Patio Enclosures Converts Open Porch in Ohio to Three-Season Sunroom
A covered back porch in suburban Cleveland blocked the sun and light rain, but the owners found it had limited use. Hard rain, wind, bugs or a chill in the air made sitting on the porch uncomfortable.
They arranged for a representative from Patio Enclosures in Macedonia, OH, to come to their home for a design consultation. After meeting with the homeowners and taking measurements, Design Consultant Joe Perri suggested a three-season sunroom to enclose the space.
A three season sunroom provides protection from rain, wind and insects while the floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall glass provides the same open view they had before. Patio Enclosures custom made the glass panels of the sunroom to fit perfectly between the existing hip roof and the existing patio, maximizing the use of space. When the panels were installed they were securely fixed to the patio and sealed with double beads of construction-grade sealant to withstand the changing temperatures of Ohio weather, something many other sunroom companies don’t do.
The family is now getting much more use of the space, expanding their living area. They enjoy using the new porch enclosure for family gatherings, entertaining or just relaxing. And, should they choose, in the future the glass panels can be easily upgraded to double-paned, insulated glass to extend the usage into the colder months.
