Expecting Guests? How to Clean a Screened-in Porch Quickly

Blog Post Updated on: May 19, 2022.

Screen Rooms

In this post, you will learn…

  • How to get rid of the clutter in your room
  • How to quickly clean your room before guests arrive
  • Why Patio Enclosures screens stay cleaner for longer

A screen room can be the perfect gathering place for get-togethers, but what should you do if you’re short on time and the room is not presentable? Here are a few tips on how to quickly clean your screen room so it’s ready for guests.

Clean Up the Mess

Hide Clutter

If you’re having family or friends over, odds are you don’t want them to see your clutter. Stack all your magazines on the bookshelf, put the blankets in a decorative basket or trunk, and find a home for your knick-knacks. Having a tidy room will make the space look bigger and cleaner.

Sweep and Remove Rugs

Before you remove any rugs from your screened-in porch, it’s beneficial to sweep them off so dirt isn’t tracked through the rest of your home. Removing the rugs from your room will make it much easier to scrub the floor.

Clean Pillows and Cushions

Remove the covers from your cushions and pillows and either throw them in the washer or hand wash them. Once completely dry, put your freshly cleaned cushions and pillows back where they belong. During the colder months, when you’re not using your screen room, it’s best to cover your furniture or bring it indoors. That way you can protect your furniture from the elements and won’t have to wash or replace the covers each time someone comes over.

Give Your Room a Quick Clean

Clean from the Top Down

While cleaning your room, it’s important to work from the top down to make sure you’re not getting dust on your clean floor. Start by wiping down all the ceilings, ceiling fan blades and lights.

How to Clean Screens on Porch

To clean the screens on your porch, simply remove the screen rolling panels, place them on a flat surface and hose them down. However, if you have a Patio Enclosures® screen room, you’ll find that the aluminum mesh screens stay much cleaner than traditional fiberglass because there is no static cling buildup. Once the screens are wet, use a soft-bristled brush and cleaning solution to remove the accumulated dust and pollen. Rinse the screen off and use a sponge to wipe off the porch trim.

Wipe down all your furniture, decorations, and potted plants to remove any signs of dust. Make sure to dust off any metal or wood surfaces as well. Use a damp microfiber rag and wipe down your windows to give them a just-cleaned look.

Sweep and Mop

If you have any carpet in your screen room, now is the time to vacuum. If you have hardwood floors or tile, make sure to scrub them to give your room a fresh, clean scent.

Add the Finishing Touches

When your floor is dry, lay the rugs back down and move your furniture back to where it belongs. Add a few decorations and your room is ready for guests!

Start with Screens that Stay Cleaner Longer

Screen Room

At Patio Enclosures®, our screens stay cleaner for longer. Unlike traditional fiberglass which attracts dust due to static buildup, our aluminum screen mesh resists dust and debris better than fiberglass. The extruded aluminum frame also provides maximum durability and resists sagging.
