Do you ever wish you could enjoy the beauty of the outdoors without leaving the comfort of your home? A solarium may be the perfect solution for you.

What is a Solarium?

Expanding your home is an exciting decision and adding a solarium to your home is a wonderful way to add extra living space for you and your family. A solarium, also known as a green house or glass enclosure, is a type of sunroom addition that is made entirely of glass. The original purpose of a solarium is to trap as much light as possible. This allows for an outdoor feel without having to leaving the comfort of your home. It also provides floor-to-ceiling views, with glass walls and a glass roof that will give you a fantastic view of your surroundings.

Benefits of a Solarium Addition

Solarium Home Addition

One of the main benefits of a solarium is that it provides maximum views of your surroundings, thanks to its glass walls and roof. In addition, a solarium makes a great greenhouse, because its climate-controlled environment allows you to store plants year-round. A solarium can spruce up your home and add extra space and natural light to your home.

At Patio Enclosures®, we take pride in delivering the best product possible. Each of our solariums is manufactured with a 1-inch-thick double-pane insulated glass to improve heating and cooling performance.

Our insulated, all-glass roofs accommodate all roof pitches with a sharp transition from the roof to the front panels. A glass roof adds an exceptional amount of natural light to your room and provides a beautiful, unobstructed view of the sky.

Not only does a solarium allow you to enjoy the outdoors from the inside of your home, but it also provides you with solar heat gain (free heat from the sun) and protection from the elements.

Custom Solarium Design Options

At Patio Enclosures, there are endless ways to design your custom solarium. Our custom design options allow you to build a solarium room as basic or as extravagant as you want.Single Slope Roof

For roof options, you can choose a single slope or gable roof. A single slope roof, also called a shed roof or studio roof, is one of the most popular and economic options. It has a single sloping surface that is attached to the building’s highest point off the roof’s slope. The single slope roof is easy to build, making it a great option for your solarium.

Gable RoofThe gable roof, also known as a pitched roof, slopes downward in two parts at an angle from a central ridge. The ridge beam is typically perpendicular to the wall of the building to which the room is attached. One key benefit of this type of roof is its ability to shed rain and snow with ease.

Frame color options are offered in our neutral palette of white, sandstone and bronze finishes to coordinate with most home exteriors. Our finishes provide the highest resistance to fading, scratching, chipping and peeling, which gives you great color for the life if your room.

Glass is a key part of a solarium. Our glass options include a double-pane insulated glass or our Comfort-Gard® PLUS high-performance glass with 1-inch thick soft-coat Low-E and argon gas.

Double-pane insulated glass is comprised of two panes of glass separated by a Super Spacer™ and insulated with air. It is a popular choice for extending the seasonal use of your sunroom. Double-pane glass can improve heating and cooling performance.

Window Tint OptionsOur optional Comfort-Guard Plus high-performance glass contains a soft-coat Low-E and is insulated with argon gas, which is denser than air. This makes it the most advanced glass for sunrooms available to maximize heating and cooling return. It keeps you warmer in the winter, reduces cooling costs by as much as 25% in the summer, and saves your furniture fabric by blocking UV rays 90% more effectively than ordinary glass.

Other options include unlimited design possibilities, bronze glass tint, operable window and door configurations and more.
